Use Helix: Organizations

This tool can provide you with critical insights into your organizational culture and systems engineering workforce. The tool was developed as part of an eight-year global investigation on systems engineering effectiveness.

This tool captures critical aspects that impact effectiveness from multiple individuals in the organization and tracks changes and progress over time. It contains two well-known instruments, the Competing Values Framework (CVF) * and the Quality of Interaction Index (Qi Index) * . It includes assessments related to culture, teaming, structure, governance, and methods, processes, and tools to enable effective SE capability.

The tool is an online assessment that asks questions about systems engineering in your organization. It can be used by systems engineers and anyone in your organization that works with or manages systems engineers. Organizations can set up the basic tool and invite systems engineers and their peers, managers, and leaders to complete assessments. Organizational administrators will be able to view the results across different parts of the organization or different locations. Results give a snapshot of organizational culture and systems engineering effectiveness. Taken over time, it provides a way of tracking the trajectory of an organization.

Completing the basic questions takes about 25 minutes. If you fill out all of the free text questions it can take up to 45 minutes.

Respondents can complete a portion of an assessment and return later to finish the rest. The incomplete assessment will be shown on their dashboard.

Data from the tool is stored in a dedicated database that is limited to access by HELIX representatives. If your organization and each individual who uses the tool agrees, an anonymized version of the results will be included in the master database to improve the model. If your organization would like to work with the Helix team, then the team will analyze the data and this aggregated analysis will be provided to your organization.
